Hello! My name is Elisa Lee, and this is my website! I am a Korean-American-Canadian 14-year-old living in the US with my mom, dad, and loveable dog, Noodles. I have citizenship in Korea, the USA, and Canada. As a young child, I went back and forth from living in the US with my father to living with my mother’s family in Korea. These two communities have vastly different cultures: America being more fast-paced and progressive, while Korea is more conservative, traditional, and family-oriented. Both environments have shaped me into an innovative, determined, respectful, and family-oriented person. My mother and father both achieved incredible academic feats, persisted and pushed through struggles, overcame their peer’s expectations, and most importantly, greatly inspired me to achieve all my goals. They have raised me to become, among many other things, a successful student, artist, athlete, and a determined individual.
Throughout the years, I have been infatuated with new areas and domains. As a child, I was interested in the atmosphere around me and would look around with wide eyes. I had an innate drive to discover and learn about everything new to me, to explore the “unknowns” of the world. Two of these “unknowns” I have become closely connected with are space and the ocean.
Space. The region of mystery that contains answers to thousands of questions about our world. Countless humans have been fascinated with this mysterious realm, and I am one of them. Throughout the years of my life, I got to experience some launches, meet astronauts, and participate in many space-related clubs and activities. The other “unknown” I became tightknit with was also a realm that innumerable people have been fascinated with: the ocean. I have always loved the sea; I adored swimming, looking at the waves crash against rocks, and valued water in general. By the age of ten, I received my SCUBA diving license and developed a love for the ocean. With my advanced certification in hand, I am looking forward to serving as a Youth Ambassador for the Fins Attached marine research and conservation trip in Costa Rica this coming summer where I will be diving every day, contributing to shark and marine conservation.
